Questions

What does the eBay listing grader check?

Every live listing in your shop for photo count and title length, plus a sample of listings read in full for item specifics (against the ones eBay recommends for that category), returns, description and Best Offer. Each check is weighted by how much it affects where eBay shows your listings, and added up to a score out of 100.

Why do item specifics matter so much?

eBay search filters (size, brand, colour, department) only show listings that have that item specific filled in. A listing without "Size" never appears when a buyer filters by size, however good the title is. That is why item specifics carry the most weight in the score.

Do I need to log in or connect my eBay account?

No. The grader only reads what any buyer can see on your public listings. Nothing is changed on your account.

Where do I find my eBay username?

It is on your feedback profile and in the link to your shop, after /usr/. Your shop name and your username are not always the same — if the shop name finds nothing, use the username.

How often should I check?

After any big batch of new listings, or once a month. Results are cached for a day, so re-checking the same shop the same day shows the same result.
