Crosslist from PrestaShop to Etsy — Automatically
Etsy bans reselling commercially available goods, so most PrestaShop catalogues are ineligible before fees even matter. Here is exactly which stock qualifies, the production-partner path for manufacturers, and what it costs if you clear the gate.
- Most PrestaShop catalogues cannot go on Etsy at all. Etsy’s Seller Policy is explicit: everything listed must be made, designed, handpicked or sourced by the seller, and dropshipping and reselling are not allowed. Reselling commercially available goods you did not make or design describes most PrestaShop stores exactly.
- The framing changed in June 2025, and most articles have not caught up. Etsy replaced the old “handmade, vintage, craft supplies” language with four Creativity Standards categories: made, designed, handpicked and sourced by a seller. Read the new one.
- There is one real path for a manufacturer, and it is narrow. If the design is yours and a production partner makes it, you are eligible — but you must disclose the partner, and white-label manufacturers, OEMs, ODMs and wholesalers explicitly do not qualify.
- The vintage exception is a number, not a mood. Twenty years or older, which in 2026 means made in 2006 or earlier. Etsy may ask you to document the age.
- If you are eligible, the fees are layered. $0.20 to list for four months, 6.5% transaction fee charged on shipping too, 4% + £0.20 to process in the UK, and a 0.48% UK regulatory operating fee.
- Offsite Ads become permanent at $10,000. Below that you can opt out and pay 15% on attributed orders; cross $10,000 in any rolling 365 days and you are enrolled for the life of the shop at 12%, capped at $100 per order.
- Etsy’s listing limits are more generous than most pages claim: 20 photos, two videos, a 140-character title, 13 tags, and up to three variation types.
- Cost: FLUF Connect crosslists from PrestaShop to 50+ marketplaces from one dashboard. 7 days for £1, then from £9/month. There is no free plan.

Read this before you list anything
Almost every crosslisting route is a question of fees and field mapping. This one starts with an eligibility problem, and skipping past it would waste your week.
Etsy is not a general e-commerce marketplace. Its Seller Policy states that everything listed for sale on Etsy must be made, designed, handpicked or sourced by a seller, and that dropshipping and reselling are not allowed except in specific cases such as craft supplies. Its reselling policy defines reselling as selling a commercially available item that the seller did not make or design.
Now think about what a typical PrestaShop store is. On the Store Leads data for August 2026, PrestaShop’s largest categories are Home and Garden with 21,517 stores, Apparel with 19,631 and Food and Drink with 10,876. A great many of those are retailers of commercially available goods, buying wholesale and selling on. That is the exact activity Etsy’s reselling policy prohibits.
So the honest shape of this route is that a slice of PrestaShop merchants can list on Etsy, and the rest should send that stock to a marketplace that accepts general retail. Listing an ineligible item risks removal, and Etsy says working with non-qualifying businesses to source products may result in penalties up to and including account suspension. It is not worth finding out.
The four categories Etsy actually allows
There is a second problem with most of what is written about Etsy eligibility: it is out of date. The old three-bucket framing of “handmade, vintage, and craft supplies” was replaced on 10 June 2025 by the Creativity Standards, which require that all items incorporate a human touch and sort that requirement into four categories. Etsy’s own help copy still uses the old language in places, which is why the confusion persists. The legal page is the one that governs.
| Category | What it covers | Does a PrestaShop merchant qualify? |
|---|---|---|
| Made by a seller | Physical items made by the seller by hand or using personal or computerised tools | Only if you actually manufacture |
| Designed by a seller | The seller’s original designs, produced or printed by a third party, or sold as a digital download | Yes, if the design is genuinely yours — see the next section |
| Handpicked by a seller | Vintage items, items from nature, and certain curated collections | Only for stock 20 years old or more |
| Sourced by a seller | Items that enable buyer creativity: craft and party supplies, and items personalised with a buyer’s custom text or image | Yes for genuine craft supplies; personalisation must be real |
The disqualifiers are stated just as plainly, and they are worth reading against your own catalogue. Etsy’s Creativity Standards specifically exclude resold commercially available items newer than 20 years old even if designed to look vintage; items assembled by the seller from the manufacturer’s instructions; a commercially available base item with only superficial alteration such as a stick-on adornment; resold blank items ready to use without craft intervention, naming blank t-shirts, hats and tumblers; and resold generic cooking tools, chemical compounds, automotive and bicycle parts, and office, construction, gardening, cosmetic or home DIY supplies.
Etsy also closes the obvious workaround. Its reselling article names adding a card, gift tag or note to an otherwise unaltered commercially available item as prohibited reselling. Repackaging does not create eligibility.
The legitimate path for a manufacturer
If your PrestaShop store sells goods you designed and had made, you may well be eligible — and this is the case worth spending time on, because it is the one that turns a “no” into a “yes”.
Etsy defines a production partner as a company or individual outside your Etsy shop who physically produces items based on your own original designs from start to finish — a printing service, an apparel producer, an engraver. The Creativity Standards permit original designs created by a seller and produced with a production partner’s assistance, on two conditions: you disclose the partner, and you give accurate information about where the item ships from.
The list of businesses that do not qualify as production partners is where most manufacturers discover they are out. Etsy names white-label manufacturers that produce standard products you can brand as your own without significant design input; original equipment manufacturers; original design manufacturers that design and make products other companies rebrand; and commercial retailers and wholesalers that sell you ready-made products for resale. Etsy’s own consequence for using one: working with non-qualifying businesses to source products violates its marketplace policies on reselling, and may result in penalties up to and including account suspension.
The test is therefore about design origination, not about who operates the machine. If you sent a specification and a design and a factory made it to that design, that is a production partner. If you picked a product from a supplier’s catalogue and put your logo on it, that is white labelling, and it is not eligible however much you paid for the tooling.
Practically, you add partners in Shop Manager under Settings, or in the listing itself, or in bulk from the Listings page. You may hide the partner’s name behind a descriptive title such as “Apparel printer”, but the existence of the partnership must be disclosed. Note also that production partners cannot be attached to supplies or vintage items, and that new partners cannot be added from the Etsy Seller mobile app.
The twenty-year line
Etsy’s vintage definition is a number: items that are 20 or more years old, personally curated or collected by the seller. In 2026 that means made in 2006 or earlier. Etsy adds that it may ask for photo documentation or information about a vintage item’s source, age, designer or materials.
For a PrestaShop merchant this matters most if you hold deadstock or an inherited catalogue. Home and Garden being PrestaShop’s largest category by store count, there is a real population of merchants sitting on genuinely old inventory alongside their current lines — and that older seam is Etsy-eligible when the new stock beside it is not. Do the age check item by item before you crosslist anything, and keep whatever establishes it. A maker’s mark or a date stamp is also good listing copy.
What Etsy costs, if you are eligible
All figures from Etsy’s Fees and Payments Policy, last updated 13 February 2026, and its Etsy Payments Policy, last updated 31 July 2026.
| Charge | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 per item listed | Charged whether or not it sells; the listing expires after four months |
| Auto-renewal | $0.20 | At the end of each four-month period, and after each unit of a multi-quantity listing sells |
| Editing a listing | Nil | Etsy states there is no fee for editing |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Of the displayed price plus shipping, gift wrapping and personalisation |
| Payment processing (UK) | 4% + £0.20 | On the gross order including shipping and tax |
| Payment processing (US / Germany) | 3% + $0.25 / 4% + €0.30 | Set by the country of your bank account |
| Regulatory operating fee | UK 0.48%, France 1.14%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Canada 0.50% | On item price plus shipping; VAT applies on top |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | If you list in a currency other than your payment account’s |
| Etsy Plus | $10/month | Includes 15 listing credits and $5 of Etsy Ads credit per cycle; credits do not roll over |
Two details catch PrestaShop merchants specifically. The first is that the listing fee is genuinely denominated in US dollars and converted at market rate — Etsy’s UK marketing page quotes it as about £0.15, but the policy figure is $0.20 and it moves with the exchange rate. The second is the four-month expiry with auto-renewal on by default. A 400-product PrestaShop catalogue listed on Etsy is $80 every four months in listing fees alone, before a single sale, and each unit sold from a multi-quantity listing triggers another $0.20. That is a very different cost shape from your own storefront, where a product page costs nothing to leave up.
Note that the transaction fee applies to shipping as well as to the item. If you use shipping as a margin lever, as many PrestaShop merchants do, 6.5% of it goes to Etsy too.
Offsite Ads, and the threshold you cannot undo
This is the fee most likely to surprise a merchant scaling a catalogue, because it changes character once you pass a number.
Etsy advertises listings off-site and charges you when an order is attributed to one of those ads. If your shop made under $10,000 in the prior 365 days, the rate is 15% and you may opt out. Once your shop has ever reached $10,000 in sales over a rolling 365 days, the rate drops to 12% but participation becomes mandatory for the lifetime of the shop, and a prior opt-out stops applying. The attribution window is 30 days from the ad click and applies to any order from your shop in that window, not only the advertised item. The fee is capped at $100 per attributed order.
For a PrestaShop merchant this is a real planning input rather than a footnote. If your existing storefront turns over more than $10,000 a year, the Etsy shop you open alongside it will cross that threshold reasonably quickly, and from that point Offsite Ads is a permanent 12% line on attributed orders that you cannot switch off. Decide whether the arithmetic works before you get there, not after.
Mapping a PrestaShop product onto an Etsy listing
Etsy’s limits are more generous than most comparison pages claim, because several were raised recently. From Etsy’s own listing guidance: up to 20 photos and two videos of 5 to 15 seconds each, and a title of up to 140 characters. Anything still telling you 10 photos and one video is out of date.
| PrestaShop | Etsy | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | Title | 140 characters; the listing URL is derived from the title at first publish and never changes afterwards |
| Description | Description | Etsy does not document HTML support, so assume plain text and strip markup |
| Images | Photos | Up to 20; width of 2,000 px or more recommended |
| reference | SKU | Settable per variation, but only for up to 400 option combinations |
| Tags (PrestaShop tags resource) | Tags | 13 maximum, 20 characters each, letters numbers and spaces only |
| Features | Attributes | Taxonomy-dependent; the available attributes change with the category you pick |
| Combinations | Variations | Up to three variation types; 2,500 combinations with three types, 4,900 with one or two |
| weight, dimensions | Shipping profile | Mandatory, and strict — see below |
Three things are stricter on Etsy than on your own store. Shipping profiles are mandatory and Etsy requires an estimated delivery date before it will save one; a listing missing a domestic service, a cross-border service where you ship internationally, an origin postcode or a processing time goes to “Needs Review” and stops renewing. Variations carry a hard limit of 400 option combinations with unique prices, SKUs and quantities, which is well below PrestaShop’s combination ceiling — a large size-by-colour grid will not transfer whole. And if you are a trader selling into the EEA or Northern Ireland, Etsy expects manufacturer and safety information on the listing under the General Product Safety Regulation.
One field pair has no PrestaShop equivalent at all and has to be answered deliberately: Etsy requires who_made and when_made on every listing. Those are the fields that encode the eligibility question from the top of this page, and they are not cosmetic. Answering them inaccurately to get a listing through is how shops get suspended.
What syncs, and the PrestaShop stock quirk
Review stock for each PrestaShop product and variant before crosslisting. Confirm quantities for the intended shop.
Check that a product is available to purchase, not just visible on your PrestaShop storefront, before crosslisting it.
A detected Etsy sale makes the corresponding PrestaShop product unavailable while retaining it in your catalogue. A detected PrestaShop sale updates Etsy and supported connected listings. No browser needs to remain open.
Crosslisting and inventory sync are on every paid plan; relisting, offer management and smart pricing are included from Seller upwards. Relisting is worth a thought on this channel specifically, because Etsy listings expire after four months and each renewal costs $0.20 whether or not the item has sold.
So should you do this?
Work through it in order. First, does your stock clear the Creativity Standards — do you make it, did you design it and have a qualifying production partner make it, is it 20 years old or more, or is it a genuine craft or party supply? If none of those, stop; this is not your channel, and the honest recommendation is a marketplace that accepts general retail.
If some of it clears, treat Etsy as a channel for that seam rather than for the catalogue. The economics reward that anyway: with a $0.20 listing fee every four months per item, listing 400 products to find out which ones sell is an expensive experiment, while listing the eligible eighty is a cheap one.
And if you are a designer-manufacturer whose whole range qualifies, Etsy is a serious channel, with 86.5 million active buyers and $11.9 billion of merchandise sales in 2025 according to its annual report. Just note where those buyers are: 74% of that came from US buyers, which is the single most useful fact for a French, Spanish, Polish or Italian PrestaShop merchant deciding what to list and in what language.

Etsy’s published per-second and per-day API rate limits, which its documentation describes without giving numbers. The amount of Etsy’s one-time shop set-up fee, which Etsy says varies by location and shows only during setup. And the exact date on which the UK regulatory operating fee reached 0.48% — the rate itself is from Etsy’s own page, but no effective date is published with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Only if they clear Etsy's Creativity Standards, and for many PrestaShop merchants they do not. Etsy's Seller Policy requires everything listed to be made, designed, handpicked or sourced by the seller, and states that dropshipping and reselling are not allowed except in specific cases such as craft supplies. Reselling is defined as selling a commercially available item the seller did not make or design — which describes a retailer buying wholesale and selling on. The four eligible categories are: items you make, your original designs made by a qualifying production partner, vintage items 20 years or older, and genuine craft or party supplies.
That framing is out of date, and it is why so much advice on this is wrong. On 10 June 2025 Etsy replaced it with the Creativity Standards, which require all items to incorporate a human touch and sort that into four categories: made by a seller, designed by a seller, handpicked by a seller, and sourced by a seller. Etsy's own help pages still use the old wording in places, which keeps the confusion alive. The legal Creativity Standards page is the one that governs, and it is where the disqualifier list lives too.
Probably yes, and this is the most important exception for a PrestaShop merchant. Etsy allows original designs created by a seller and produced with a production partner, provided you disclose the partner and state accurately where the item ships from. The catch is what does not count as a production partner: white-label manufacturers producing standard products you brand without significant design input, original equipment manufacturers, original design manufacturers, and commercial retailers or wholesalers selling you ready-made goods. The test is whether the design originated with you, not who operated the machine.
Twenty years or older, and Etsy means it literally — in 2026 that is anything made in 2006 or earlier. Etsy's Creativity Standards also state it may ask for photo documentation or information about a vintage item's source, age, designer or materials. It explicitly excludes resold commercially available items newer than 20 years even if they are designed to look vintage. If you hold deadstock or an inherited catalogue alongside your current lines, that older seam can be Etsy-eligible when the new stock next to it is not, so check item by item and keep whatever evidences the age.
It is layered. $0.20 to list an item for four months, charged whether or not it sells, and another $0.20 on auto-renewal and after each unit of a multi-quantity listing sells. Then a 6.5% transaction fee, which is charged on shipping and gift wrapping as well as the item price. Then payment processing set by the country of your bank account: 4% plus £0.20 in the UK, 3% plus $0.25 in the US, 4% plus €0.30 in Germany. Then a regulatory operating fee of 0.48% in the UK, 1.14% in France, 0.88% in Spain and 0.80% in Italy. Editing a listing is free.
It is the fee that changes character permanently. If your shop made under $10,000 in the prior 365 days you pay 15% on orders attributed to an off-site ad, and you can opt out. Once your shop has ever reached $10,000 over a rolling 365 days, the rate falls to 12% but participation becomes mandatory for the lifetime of the shop and any earlier opt-out stops applying. Attribution runs 30 days from the ad click and covers any order from your shop in that window, not just the advertised item, capped at $100 per order. If your PrestaShop storefront already turns over more than $10,000, plan for crossing that line rather than discovering it.
More than most comparison pages say, because the limits were raised. Etsy allows up to 20 photos and two videos of 5 to 15 seconds each, a title of up to 140 characters, and 13 tags of 20 characters each. Variations run to three types, with up to 2,500 option combinations when you use three types and 4,900 with one or two — but you can only set unique prices, SKUs and quantities for 400 combinations. That 400 ceiling is well below what PrestaShop allows, so a large size-by-colour grid will not transfer whole.
Check stock for each product and variant in the intended shop. Confirm that each item is both visible and available to buy before crosslisting.
A detected Etsy sale makes the corresponding PrestaShop product unavailable while keeping it in your catalogue. Sales detected on PrestaShop update Etsy and supported connected listings. No browser needs to remain open. Check sync status because updates are not instantaneous.
It depends on eligibility first and geography second. If your stock clears the Creativity Standards, Etsy is a serious channel: its FY2025 annual report reports 86.5 million active buyers, 5.6 million active sellers and $11.9 billion of merchandise sales. But 74% of those sales came from US buyers, which is the fact that should shape a French, Spanish, Polish or Italian merchant's decision about what to list and in what language. And because listings cost $0.20 every four months regardless of sales, listing your eligible seam is a cheap experiment while listing the whole catalogue is not.
