Key Takeaways — Crosslisting from Subito to Depop

  • Only part of a Subito catalogue belongs on Depop. Depop is a fashion and lifestyle marketplace, and its prohibited and restricted list includes technology and electronics, real estate, services, tickets, alcohol, food, plants and animals. Clothing, shoes, bags and accessories are the natural overlap.
  • The fee sits on different sides. On Subito the TuttoSubito commission is charged to the buyer (€1.20 + 5% up to €300). Depop charges sellers outside the UK, US and Australia a 10% selling fee plus PayPal’s processing fee.
  • Photos need care. Subito puts its logo on every published photo. Depop asks for original photos. Use your own unmarked files on Depop.
  • Sales on Subito are not detected. FLUF does not notice a Subito sale, and it does not end Subito ads when an item sells elsewhere. Both of those steps are yours.
  • Depop sales are detected. FLUF notices a Depop sale and updates your stock. You still delete the matching Subito ad yourself.
  • Cost: 7 days for £1, then from £9/month, then plans from £9/month with unlimited listings. See pricing.

Why Take Subito Stock to Depop?

Subito is an Italian general classifieds site. One search results page can hold a sofa, a moped and a leather jacket. Buyers arrive with a need and a location, and many listings are arranged as local pick-ups or shipped through TuttoSubito.

Depop is built around clothing and style. A listing has fields that a classifieds ad does not ask for: up to five hashtags, a style, up to two colours, and a brand. Depop’s own description advice tells sellers to add measurements, fit notes and flaws, because the more complete the listing, the better Depop can match it to what buyers search for.

That is the real reason to run both. The same vintage denim jacket can sit on Subito for local buyers who want a fair price and a quick hand-over, and on Depop for buyers who search by brand, era or style. You are not choosing one audience; you are giving one item two routes to a sale.

Depop also says in its Terms of Service that you may list items on other marketplaces at the same time through third-party crosslisting tools, as long as you remove the item from Depop promptly when it sells elsewhere and accept responsibility if it sells twice. Keep that rule in mind; it matters a lot for the Subito side, as the sync section explains.

What Fits on Depop, and What Does Not

Before you select anything, sort your Subito ads by section. Motori, Immobili, Lavoro and Servizi have no home on Depop at all. Inside the remaining sections, Depop’s list of prohibited and restricted items rules out more than many Subito sellers expect.

Items on that list that often turn up in an Italian classifieds wardrobe or clear-out:

  • Technology and electronics.
  • Restricted perfumes and cosmetics.
  • Counterfeit items, replicas and unauthorised copies.
  • Restricted products for children and infants, and products subject to safety regulations.
  • Tickets, vouchers, gift cards and other non-material goods.
  • Food, alcohol, tobacco, plants and seeds.
  • Second-hand clothing that is not disclosed as used.
  • Unwashed underwear, or listings that suggest it.

Depop also states that the list is a guide and that it can remove items that are not named on it. The point about undisclosed second-hand clothing is easy to miss: a Subito ad marked with a loose condition word can reach Depop reading as if the item were new. Set the Depop condition to match the real state of the piece.

If you sell kidswear, read Depop’s separate guidance on listing children’s items. It recommends flat-lay photos, and it reminds sellers who ship to the EU that the General Product Safety Regulation applies.

How to Crosslist from Subito to Depop with FLUF Connect

  1. Start your FLUF account. 7 days for £1, then from £9/month. Crosslisting is on every plan.
  2. Connect Subito. Add Subito from the Channels page in FLUF. Your live Subito ads come into FLUF as products. If you also want to publish new ads to Subito from FLUF, fill in the phone number and town that Subito requires on every ad in the Subito connection panel.
  3. Connect Depop. Add your Depop shop from the same Channels page.
  4. Choose what to send. Select the Subito products that suit Depop. Leave out anything from the restricted list above.
  5. Review each Depop draft. Check the category, brand, size, condition, price and photos. The checklist below covers what to look at.
  6. Publish. Send the selection to Depop. The item now has one record in FLUF and a listing on each channel.
  7. Handle Subito by hand. When something sells on Subito, mark it sold in FLUF. When something sells on Depop, delete the Subito ad. The sync section explains why both steps are needed.

You can connect other channels to the same products. FLUF Connect works with 51 marketplaces, including Vinted, eBay and Etsy.

What You Check Before You Publish

A Subito ad and a Depop listing ask for different things. Classifieds titles are often short and practical; Depop buyers search by brand, style and fit. Go through each draft with this list before you publish.

  • Title. Put the words a Depop buyer would type first: brand, item type, era or style, and size. Depop’s description tips say to start with the words you would search for as a buyer.
  • Language. Decide who you are selling to. An Italian-only description suits buyers in Italy; if you enable worldwide shipping, an English line with size and measurements helps buyers abroad.
  • Category and subcategory. Choose the most exact Depop subcategory. A general Subito section such as “Abbigliamento e Accessori” does not say whether a jacket is menswear or womenswear, so confirm it.
  • Brand. Pick the brand from Depop’s list where one exists. An unbranded or unknown label is better left blank than guessed.
  • Size and measurements. Italian sizes do not always match a buyer’s expectation. Add pit-to-pit, length and waist measurements in the description, as Depop advises.
  • Condition. Match the Depop condition to the real state of the item, and photograph every flaw.
  • Colour and style. Depop lets you add up to two colours and a style. Subito ads often leave these out.
  • Hashtags. Add up to five that describe the piece. Depop’s Community Guidelines ask sellers to avoid irrelevant hashtags and misleading titles.
  • Price. Work out the price after Depop’s fee (see the fees section), not the Subito price copied across.
  • Shipping price. Depop sellers outside the UK and US set their own shipping price. Estimate it from the parcel size and weight.
  • Photos. Look at every image. If any shows the Subito logo, replace it with your original file.

Photos: Logos, Counts and Subito’s Image Rules

Subito’s help centre explains that every image users upload is overlaid with a Subito logo, to stop ad photos being used without the seller’s consent. The same page says each ad takes six photos. An option to buy six extra photo slots exists, but only in the Motori, Immobili and Lavoro sections, so a clothing ad stays at six.

On Depop, the listing guide gives two limits: up to eight photos when you list on Depop.com, or up to four photos and one video in the app. Depop’s selling guide says to use original photos, show any faults, and include photos of labels and tags, and it warns that listings using stock images are removed.

A photo with another marketplace’s logo on it is not the clean, original image Depop asks for. The simple fix is to keep your own photo folder as the master copy:

  1. Shoot the item once, with more frames than either site needs: front, back, label, care tag, close-ups of fabric and every flaw.
  2. Give Subito your best six. The first photo is the one shown in Subito search results, so choose it with care.
  3. Give Depop up to eight from the same original files, with the label and flaw shots included.
  4. Never save photos from a published Subito ad to reuse elsewhere.

Subito also has rules about what a photo may show. Its help page says it does not accept images of minors, nudity, or people wearing underwear or swimwear, and it rejects photos that do not show the item for sale. If you model swimwear or lingerie for Depop, those shots cannot be reused on Subito; use flat-lay or hanger photos there. Depop has its own nudity policy, with stricter rules for users and models aged 13 to 17.

Editing: Fixed Fields on Subito, Flexible Drafts on Depop

Subito’s editing help page lists what you can change after publishing: title, description, price and photos. It also lists what you cannot change: email address, region, province, category, ad type (for sale, for rent, wanted) and whether you are a private seller or a business.

So a category chosen in error stays with that ad. An edited ad is still subject to Subito’s rules and can be rejected; if that happens, Subito emails you a link to correct it.

The practical order is to decide the category before the ad goes live on Subito, and to treat Depop as the place where you refine the listing. On Depop you can keep adjusting the title, description, hashtags and price as you learn which searches bring buyers in. Depop’s web listing tools also let you work on drafts and edit several listings at once, which is useful after a large crosslist.

Fees on Each Side

Subito

The TuttoSubito fee policy sets the service commission as a charge to the buyer:

  • Purchase price up to €300 (shipping excluded): €1.20 + 5% of the price.
  • Purchase price above €300: €1.20 + 4.5% of the price.
  • Maximum commission: €91.20.

The policy does not describe a commission charged to the seller. Paid extras exist: the “In Cima” option moves an ad back to the top of the list, with packages that run once a day, once a day for seven days, or every seven days for one or two months.

Depop, for sellers based in Italy

Depop’s seller fees page splits sellers into two groups. Sellers in the UK, US and Australia pay no Depop selling fee. Sellers outside those countries, selling in a currency other than GBP, USD or AUD, pay:

Depop fee (sellers outside the UK, US and Australia) Amount Charged on
Selling fee 10% Item price (excluding taxes), plus the shipping cost if you did not use a Depop shipping label
Payment processing PayPal’s fee Varies with your location and PayPal account
Boosting fee (Boosted Listings only) 8% Item price, plus shipping if you did not use a Depop label

Three details on that page are worth knowing before you price:

  • The 10% can apply to the shipping you charge, not only the item price.
  • On a bundle, the selling fee applies to each item, while the processing fee applies once per bundle.
  • If a PayPal sale is refunded, you get the Depop selling fee back by raising a ticket with Depop support and attaching a screenshot of the refund.

A worked example

Take a jacket priced at €40, with €8 shipping that you arrange yourself.

Subito (TuttoSubito) Depop (seller in Italy)
Buyer pays for the item €40 + €3.20 commission €40
Platform fee taken from the seller None described in the policy 10% of €48 = €4.80
Payment processing Not charged to the seller in the policy PayPal fee, amount varies

If you want the same money from both channels, the Depop price has to be higher. A simple approach is to add the fee to your Depop price and then compare it with similar items already listed on Depop before you publish.

Offers and Negotiation

Both marketplaces let buyers ask for a lower price, but the rules differ.

On Subito, a buyer can buy directly or send a proposal at a different price, which you accept or decline. You can also make an offer to users who saved your item or started a chat with you.

On Depop, the Make Offer feature gives the seller 14 days to accept, decline or counter, after which the offer expires. You can accept more than one offer on the same item; every buyer is told, and the first to pay gets it. Buyers cannot send offers on items outside their own country, although they can still buy at the listed price. Depop also has a Send Offer feature for discounts to interested buyers, and an auto-respond option for offers.

In FLUF, offer management for Depop comes with the plans above Starter. Subito proposals are handled on Subito.

Shipping and Getting Paid

Subito

Subito says shipping costs are always paid by the buyer. With TuttoSubito shipping, you enter your postcode and a parcel size when you create the ad, and the buyer chooses from the couriers you allowed. The courier list is Poste Italiane (always included), InPost, BRT and UPS. Parcel sizes are set on the weight and size page; a small parcel for pick-up points is up to 2 kg and 30×25×20 cm, which covers most single garments.

After the buyer pays, the TuttoSubito seller guide gives two deadlines: create the label within 48 hours or the sale is cancelled, and ship within six days of the notice. Subito holds the money until the buyer confirms receipt, then transfers it to your bank account or PayPal.

Depop, for sellers in Italy

Depop’s worldwide shipping guide says sellers outside the US and UK use their preferred shipping method. You set a shipping price when you list, estimated from size and weight, and you can switch on worldwide shipping in the listing. Always use a tracked service, keep the receipt, and add the tracking details in the app or on the web to complete the sale. Depop notes that most sellers ship within two days.

Payment for sellers outside the UK, US and Australia goes through PayPal, according to the fees page: the sale money arrives in your PayPal account, and the Depop selling fee and PayPal’s fee are taken as separate charges.

Because Subito and Depop have separate shipping systems, a parcel size or courier chosen for Subito does not carry over. Set the Depop shipping price on each draft.

What FLUF Does After a Sale, and What You Do

FLUF keeps one record per product and checks connected channels for sales. For this pair, the two directions work differently.

Event What FLUF does What you do
Item sells on Depop Detects the sale and updates your stock. Ends the listing on connected channels that support sold-elsewhere removal, such as eBay, Vinted and Etsy. Delete the Subito ad from your Subito account. FLUF does not end Subito ads.
Item sells on Subito (TuttoSubito, or cash on collection) Does not detect the sale. Mark the item sold in FLUF, then check that the Depop listing has ended. If it is still live, end it on Depop.
Relisting Relisting on Depop comes with the plans above Starter. Renew Subito ads yourself through Subito’s renewal email.
Offers Offer management on Depop comes with the plans above Starter. Answer Subito proposals on Subito.

The Subito row needs discipline. Depop’s Terms of Service ask you to remove an item from Depop promptly when it sells on another platform, and they make you responsible if it sells twice. A few habits keep that risk low:

  • Mark a Subito sale in FLUF as soon as you accept the buyer, not when the parcel leaves.
  • For a local cash sale arranged in chat, mark it sold in FLUF when you agree the hand-over.
  • Once a day, compare your Subito “sold” activity with FLUF.
  • After a Depop sale, delete the Subito ad before you pack the parcel.

Relisting, Renewals and Bulk Work

On Depop, FLUF’s relisting is available with the plans above Starter. Subito is not supported for relisting in FLUF.

Subito has its own renewal route. The editing and renewal page says that when an ad expires you receive an email with a link to renew it free of cost, and you must use it within ten days of receiving the email. Ads in the Servizi and Attrezzature da lavoro categories are paid only and last 60 days. If you want an ad higher in the results between renewals, that is the paid In Cima option.

Bulk operations are on every FLUF plan, so you can select and crosslist a group of Subito products to Depop together, then review the drafts. Keep the review step even for large batches: category, condition and photos are the fields that most often need a change on this route.

Sources and Verification

What we could not verify: Depop does not publish buyer numbers or age data for Italy, so this page makes no audience-size claims. PayPal’s processing fee for an Italian account depends on the account, so the worked example leaves it as a variable. Subito’s help pages we checked do not state how long a standard clothing ad stays online before the renewal email, so no duration is given here.

Frequently Asked Questions

FLUF starts with a 7-day trial for £1. After that, Starter is £9/month with unlimited listings, Growth is £19/month and Seller is £29/month. Crosslisting, inventory sync, order sync and bulk operations are on every plan, across all 50+ supported channels. Relisting, offer management and smart pricing come with the plans above Starter.

No. FLUF does not detect sales on Subito, whether the sale went through TuttoSubito or was a cash hand-over. When something sells on Subito, mark it sold in FLUF, then check that the Depop listing has ended and end it on Depop if it is still live. Depop’s Terms of Service ask you to remove an item promptly when it sells elsewhere.

No. FLUF detects the Depop sale and updates your stock, and it ends the listing on connected channels that support sold-elsewhere removal, such as eBay or Vinted. It does not end Subito ads, so delete the Subito ad yourself.

Use your original files instead. Subito puts its logo on every image published in an ad, and Depop asks sellers to use original photos. Keep your own photo folder as the master copy, give Subito its six photos and give Depop up to eight from the same files. Check every Depop draft, and replace any image that shows the Subito logo.

Depop’s seller fees page says sellers outside the UK, US and Australia pay a 10% selling fee on the item price, plus the shipping cost if they did not use a Depop shipping label. PayPal’s processing fee is charged on top and varies by account. Boosted Listings add an 8% fee. On Subito, the TuttoSubito commission of €1.20 + 5% (up to €300) is charged to the buyer.

Depop is a fashion and lifestyle marketplace. Its prohibited and restricted list includes technology and electronics, restricted perfumes and cosmetics, counterfeits and replicas, tickets and vouchers, food, alcohol, plants and seeds, real estate and services. Vehicles, property and job ads from Subito have no place on Depop. Clothing, shoes, bags and accessories are the natural overlap.

On Subito, no: its help centre says category, region, province, email address, ad type and private or business status cannot be changed after publishing. Title, description, price and photos can be edited. On Depop you can keep refining the title, description, hashtags and price, so choose the Subito category carefully and use Depop for adjustments.

No. Relisting in FLUF is available for Depop with the plans above Starter, but not for Subito. Subito sends an email with a renewal link when an ad expires, and you must use it within ten days. The paid “In Cima” option moves a Subito ad back to the top of the results.
