BigCommerce to StockX: Put Your Store’s Deadstock in Front of Size-Searching Buyers

How a trainer or streetwear store on BigCommerce places StockX asks for its new, boxed stock with FLUF Connect, what StockX charges compared with a site sale, and how a sale on either side keeps stock right.

If you run a trainer or streetwear store on BigCommerce, StockX is where buyers already search for the exact model and size you hold. Placing asks there for your deadstock gives the same pairs a second storefront with no product pages to build. FLUF Connect places each ask from your BigCommerce catalogue, and when the pair sells on your own site the StockX ask is ended for you.

In short

  • Only new, unworn products with a StockX catalogue page can be listed. StockX checks every sale at a verification centre.
  • StockX takes a 9% to 7% transaction fee by Seller Level plus 3% processing, with a minimum fee of £4.50, €5 or $5.
  • A sale on your BigCommerce store ends the StockX ask. A StockX sale is not seen by FLUF: mark it sold and your BigCommerce stock goes down.
  • You confirm the StockX product and size for each item. Your store’s photos and copy are not used on StockX.

Why a BigCommerce store adds StockX

Your own store wins when a customer already knows you: repeat buyers, newsletter traffic, people who follow your drops. It is weaker at catching the buyer who searches for one specific pair and buys from whoever has it in their size. StockX is built for that buyer. A product page lists every size, the lowest ask and the highest bid, and the sale goes to whoever is cheapest.

That makes StockX useful for three kinds of stock in a BigCommerce catalogue:

  • Odd sizes left after a release, which your own traffic is not large enough to clear.
  • Older deadstock that has dropped off your homepage but still has collectors searching for it.
  • High-demand pairs where the StockX price sits above your store price, so an ask there earns more.

Stock that StockX will not take stays on your site: anything worn or returned in less than new condition, your own-brand apparel without a StockX page, gift cards and accessories bundles.

What StockX charges

StockX’s seller fees page sets a transaction fee by Seller Level and a 3% payment processing fee on every sale:

Seller Level Transaction fee Plus processing
Level 1 9% 3%
Level 2 8.5% 3%
Level 3 8% 3%
Level 4 7.5% 3%
Level 5 7% 3%

The minimum seller fee is £4.50 in Great Britain, €5 in the EU and $5 in the US. A store selling a £180 pair at Level 1 gives up £16.20 plus £5.40, so £21.60, and pockets the rest once the pair passes verification.

Compare that with what a sale on your own store costs. BigCommerce’s pricing page lists Core at $39 a month ($29 billed annually), Growth at $105 ($79) and Scale at $399 ($299), each with an annual sales ceiling. Card processing starts at 2.89% + $0.29, and stores that use an outside payment provider pay a further fee of 2%, 1% or 0.6% depending on plan. Your margin on a site sale is higher, so treat StockX as the overflow channel for stock your own traffic is slow to clear.

How to send BigCommerce products to StockX

  1. Connect your BigCommerce store from the Channels screen in FLUF Connect. Your catalogue appears in your FLUF inventory.
  2. Connect StockX from the same screen.
  3. Filter your inventory to BigCommerce and select the new, boxed products you want on StockX.
  4. Choose StockX as the destination and continue to pricing.
  5. Confirm the StockX product and size for each item. Where there is no match, or more than one, choose it yourself.
  6. Set your ask and publish.

Product data does the work on StockX. A style code and size in your BigCommerce product, or in its variant SKUs, make the right StockX page easier to confirm. A wrong size is the commonest reason a sale fails verification, so check variants carefully before you publish.

Keeping stock in step

What happens Result
Pair sells on your BigCommerce store FLUF picks up the order and ends the StockX ask
Pair sells on StockX FLUF does not see the sale. Mark it sold in FLUF and your BigCommerce stock goes down
Relisting and offers Not available through FLUF on either channel

The exposed moment is a StockX sale on your last unit. Until you mark it sold, your store still shows that size in stock and can take an order for it. StockX’s shipping article gives you two business days to send the pair to StockX, five on release days, so update FLUF at the moment you pack it.

Things that catch stores out

  • Condition. StockX’s verification rules accept new and unworn items only. A customer return that was tried on outdoors belongs in a clearance section on your own site.
  • Boxes. Keep original boxes undamaged and with the right label. A store that stacks shoeboxes in a stockroom can fail verification on box condition alone.
  • Pricing. StockX buyers compare your ask with everyone else’s. Look at the lowest ask and recent sales for each size before setting yours.

Used and returned stock has a better home on eBay, which takes pre-owned trainers. See BigCommerce to eBay for that route, and StockX to eBay if you already hold asks on StockX.

What FLUF costs

Crosslisting, inventory sync and order sync are on every FLUF plan, from £9 a month for Starter. Relisting, offer management and smart pricing come with Pro and above, but FLUF offers none of them on StockX or BigCommerce. You can start with 7 days for £1, then from £9/month.
